THE STORY OF KUNOOZ AL ISLAMIYYAH
For years, Markaz Jawāhir has been known as a trusted source of structured Islamic education for women- a place where sincerity, clarity, and sound knowledge come together to nurture generations of learners.
As time passed, many of the young boys once connected to its teachers grew into young men who still desired to continue learning with the same trusted guidance and structure.
To serve them- and to expand access for entire families - Kunooz Al-Islamiyyah was established as a natural extension of Markaz Jawāhir.
While Markaz Jawāhir continues to serve women as the “jewels,” Kunooz was created to serve as the “treasures” — providing the same level of trust, discipline, and authenticity for men, women, and children alike.
And so Kunooz Academy began as an effort to make structured, classical Islamic education accessible to every student- children, youth, and adults- no matter where they are. Our founders envisioned a space where the Qur’an and authentic learning could reach every home, fostering a generation that learns Islam with understanding and sincerity.
Kunooz Al-Islamiyyah is an online Islamic academy dedicated to teaching authentic knowledge in a structured and clear way. Our goal is to make serious Islamic study available to all — men, women, and youth — while maintaining the standards of academic depth and manners found in traditional institutes of learning.
Each course is taught with care by qualified instructors who combine strong scholarship with years of teaching experience. Students are guided step by step through programs that strengthen both their understanding and practice of the Deen.

Our Instructors
Ustaadh Mouhammad As-Sengali
Originally from Dakar, Senegal, Ustaadh Mouhammad began his journey in knowledge at a young age, memorizing the Qur’an and teaching in his hometown. His studies later brought him to Egypt, where he was accepted into Al-Azhar University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Education and Philosophy. He also holds multiple ijāzāt in various Qur’anic recitations.
After years of teaching, he continues his work in the United States at Germantown Masjid Academy and other masajid in Philadelphia, guiding students with dedication and sincerity.
Alongside his wife, he teaches at their online Islamic school, working together to revive traditional learning and cultivate students who love the Qur’an and seek understanding. He now serves as the co-founder and lead male instructor of Kunooz Academy and contributes to developing the curriculum for Darul Nojoom Academy.
Ustaadhah Umm Abdullah Rumaisa
Umm Abdullah Rumaisa spent over 15 years living and studying in Egypt, where she dedicated herself to traditional Islamic studies. In 2017, she began teaching in the United States, helping students of all ages—children, youth, and adults—learn and grow through the study of Qur’an and Islamic texts.
By Allah’s grace, she completed memorization of the Qur’an at a young age and went on to study and memorize key foundational books. She has been granted ijāzah in Qur’an recitation in the narrations of Ḥafṣ and Shuʿbah and continues to study and teach with consistency and care.
Today, she is the founder and head female instructor of Kunooz Academy and co-founder of Darul Nojoom Academy. Her classes focus on building understanding and nurturing faith—especially for young Muslim women who wish to connect their hearts to the Qur’an.
